Congratulations MP Dan Albas. What a great day for Canada, to have the Conservative Party form a Majority Government. I was present at your nomination meeting in Penticton and was pleased to witness your success.
During the summer, my wife Fern and I spend time in Saskatchewan at our farm, where I grew up. We are here now.
Now the point of this message. We know a good number of people in this area who are NDP’ers, but who voted Conservative this time. One of the main reasons we’re hearing is their STRONG OPPOSITION to the to the Long Gun Registry, and the PROMISE by the Conservatives to ABOLISH IT! This fits in with their concern for our Economy (another reason for their voting Conservative), and ending the WASTE of MONEY directed to the Gun Registry.
Respectfully – Richard W. ( John and Fiona’s(Dad)
Hello Dan,..I noticed in one of your Blogs from a few days ago that you mentioned that there were unemployed people without benefits and 6 weeks of holidays who are horrified at what’s happening in Ottawa. Were you referring to your benefits Dan??? I’ve been employed with Canada Post for over 10 years and have 4 weeks of holidays. I might get 1 more week in 7 years? Carry 50+ lbs of mail daily and your body might need a break. Seems like a shot over the bow Dan. You must have spent a lot of time talking to enemployed people during the Lock Out. We too were unemployed Dan. Any thought to being an example for those in your riding and reducing your holidays, pensions or pay ??? Didn’t think so?Nice to see you’re having a listening tour,…..what your constituents need is an action tour Dan. You listen,…..head to Ottawa…and don’t act? Enjoy your holidays after such a long and tiresome work stint. By the way,. I’ve been one of those enemployed people for over a year after Canada Post wrogly fired me for year for supposedly not delivering 1 flyer……we don’t have much sympathy for M.P.’s who sleep in comfy couches, eat for free,..and wear suits and fly all over…alot of them starve and live in cardboard boxes. Pat Trainor
Hi Pat. My name is Phil. I also work hard. I run a small business and employ seven people. We all work hard, in fact 50 lbs is does not even tip the scales for the work that we do in an hour…let alone a day. My income comes in almost equally between credit cards and Canada Post. I am currently out roughly $ 50,000 because of this “disagreement” Where does that $ 50,000 come from ? A line of credit, meaning I pay interest on it. And for me, after running this business since 1992, I don’t get even four weeks of holiday and the concept of a pension does not exist. If you don’t like your job you should quit or at the very least understand that in the real world people work hard every day. We cannot all be so fortunate as to have four weeks of guaranteed vacation and a pension. How about showing some respect for the rest of us workers ?
Dan,
I as a Canadian citizen demand you openly and vehemently oppose the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, the Honourable Jason Kenney’s, support in allowing the United States convicted felon Conrad Black a temporary resident permit, which will fast track his citizenship to our country.
Conrad Black has renounced his Canadian citizenship to become a Lord in Britain, Canadians neither wish his return in Canada or want it.
Conrad Black is not worthy of this country, he is a convicted felon who is not a citizen, when was the last time we allowed a convicted felon from the United States into this country.
Don’t allow the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada to set a precedent for convicted US felons to gain access to our country.
Take the ethical and moral road on this Dan and oppose this miscreant from becoming a Canadian citizen. Otherwise you’ll just be another political puppet, that’s not why I voted for you.
In politics this is where the rubber hits the road for you, your actions concerning this issue will be remembered. Take the right action, the action that the people of Canada demand.

But most Canadians rightly don’t want him [Conrad Black] back. One online survey indicated about 78 per cent of the 7,000 respondents said “No,” when asked if Black should be granted citizenship. …
He [Conrad Black] described Canada as “a plain vanilla place” and said “most Canadians remain resolutely oblivious to their country’s objective decline,” adding that “interest in Canada is like Canadian art — it has no market outside the country.”

I dare you to print this comment Dan, since you decided not to print my last one.

Dan read the comment section of the CBC after its interview with Conrad Black.

The majority of Canadians commenting want that man out of our country!
I’m still waiting for you to stand up in Parliament and ask for the temporary resident permit
granted to Black by your political party be revoked.
What date will you be taking that action on? I expect to be reading about your actions regarding this in the local papers soon.
